The term "trauma-informed" is showing up in lots of places these days, and at Haven Homes of Detroit we say YES to this! Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for those caring for survivors of trauma to accidentally cause harm or re-victimize them. At HHD we are serious about preventing this: our program was created with lived-experience leaders, we have team members with lived-experience, all our staff has had 10+ hours of trauma-informed training, and we're committed to continuing to learn more.
